The weekend of Alpha with the Holy Spirit

The seventh to ninth meetings out of a total of 15 meetings of the Alpha course are always planned as "retreats". The main theme is the Holy Spirit - who He is, how He acts, and how to be filled with Him. Just like last year, we spent this weekend (November 8 - 10) at Mount Mother of God in Králíky. We fully filled the accommodation capacity of the monastery. 20 participants from this year's course, five participants from last year, three of whom are preparing for baptism, and 14 organizers arrived.

On Friday, we started the weekend with dinner, followed by Eva's short introductory lecture on who the Holy Spirit is. Then we got to know each other across the small groups where we normally meet during a short activity. The evening continued in a pleasant spirit, and fatigue pushed us to bed as we wanted to recharge for Saturday's program.

During Saturday morning, Jenda presented a number of examples of how the Holy Spirit acts, not limiting himself to biblical examples but also sharing his testimony. In the afternoon, we cooled off with a tour of the cloisters, and then we warmed up again with a walk in the surroundings. In the evening, Jenda excited us with a lecture on how to be filled with the Holy Spirit and what might hinder that. After theory, practice is best, so we dived into an evening of worship with opportunities for intercessory prayer, confession, spiritual conversation, inspiration from God's word... All accompanied by worship music. Then we allowed our experiences from prayer to resonate, each in our own way - some in silence, some in friendly conversation. Sunday was not just about packing; there was also space to share experiences from the whole weekend. At ten, we could celebrate mass and head home, looking forward to meeting again on Tuesday!

According to the feedback from participants, it was a blessed time both humanly and spiritually. Thanks go primarily to the Lord for everything we didn't have in our hands but was accomplished. Also, a big thank you to the participants for their sincere and open atmosphere throughout the weekend. And to those who took on the organization of the program. It wouldn't have been possible without others who ensured that hunger did not find a place over the weekend. We also thank the musicians for tuning our souls, the locals for their warm welcome and the possibility of accommodation at Mount Mother of God, and last but not least, everyone who accompanies Alpha with their prayers.
