On Sunday, September 20th, we celebrated the 250th anniversary of the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in our parish. The solemn mass was celebrated by the diocesan bishop of Hradec Králové, Monsignor Jan Vokál.
At the end of the mass, there was also a drawing of holiday greetings from children and others.
After the mass, we had the opportunity to meet with Bishop Vokál during a conversation in the church. From his stories, we learned many interesting things about his childhood and his adventurous journey to priesthood during the communist era, or his work in the Vatican.
In front of the church, there was a sweet refreshment prepared by young families from the parish for everyone.
Bishop Vokál also had a short visit to the museum, where he met with the mayor of the city, Petr Hájek. He viewed the premises of the City Museum and was presented with the exhibition \"Josef Cibulka and his Time,\" dedicated to a prominent native of Ústí nad Orlicí, a priest, teacher, and art historian.\n\n
