On Friday, May 23rd, we once again joined the Night of Churches activity. The theme of this year's Night of Churches was Hope. The children became pilgrims of hope, equipped for the journey with a paper backpack, in which they collected tokens for completing various pilgrim tasks. In the end, they brought a lit candle to the symbol of hope - a paper anchor in front of the altar.
Visitors to the church could also peek into the completed sacristy, where a small exhibition of liturgical objects and clothing was prepared. They could also walk behind the main altar. A major attraction was the traditional tour of the tower with the bells and ringing. In the choir, they could learn something about how the organ works, some history of the Ústí choir with an open archive and the chronicles of the Cecilian Music Union. Guests of the confectionery contributed to the Papal Missionary Works by purchasing excellent homemade pastries and sandwiches, or warm sausages. Many also gladly visited the Chapel of Comfort, where they have the opportunity for quiet prayer or remembrance; some come repeatedly, while others visit for the first time. In front of the Chapel of John Paul II, it was possible to taste and purchase wine from the Kroměříž Castle Cellars.
The conclusion of the Night of Churches was dedicated to a musical meditation, which resonated from the choir performed by locals: violin by Father Jenda, organ by Cilka P. and Anežka Š., flute by Beátka F., and texts from the Bull of Pope Francis were read by Father Vítek.
This year's edition estimates over 100 visitors.
