During the Lenten season, there was an intensified preparation of our catechumens for baptism. For three Lenten Sundays - namely the 3rd, 4th, and 5th Sundays of Lent - we were able to witness prayers over them during the Holy Mass, known as scrutinies. These rituals aim at the purification of the heart, repentance, and a deeper understanding of Christ the Savior. Scrutinies focus on liberation from sin and the devil and strengthen in Christ. They are meant to reveal what is weak, sick, and untrue in the heart of the catechumen, so that it can be healed. We, already baptized, are to help the catechumens on this journey, pray for them, and accompany them even after baptism.
On Thursday, April 10, our catechumens, along with Father Jenda, went to Hradec Králové to meet with Bishop Jan and other catechumens from the entire diocese.
