On Sunday, April 27th, nearly 40 young people from the vicarages of Ústí and Litomyšl gathered in Ústí nad Orlicí to experience a day dedicated to the Jubilee of Teenagers, proclaimed by Pope Francis as part of the Holy Year 2025. The program began at half past nine with a parish mass in the church.
Immediately after that, the first batch of pastries arrived – and they definitely did not disappoint.
After this refreshment, an outdoor game (a combination of a walk, completing tasks, and searching for information) inspired by the life of Carlo Acutis, a young Italian who was declared blessed by Pope Francis and was supposed to be canonized on this very day. However, due to the death and funeral of Pope Francis, this event has been postponed.
A secured and truly Sunday lunch (soup with liver dumplings and meatloaf with potatoes) disappeared from the plates at lightning speed, but thanks to the generous cook Kuba, there was still something left in the pots. After a short break, Father Jenda shared insights about Carlo Acutis and also reflected on the Saturday funeral of Pope Francis.
The afternoon was dedicated to music and quiet time – the Litomyšl choir prepared an evening of praise and adoration. At the end, there was a sweet treat again in the form of pastries. Thanks to everyone who participated in the meeting.
